“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” (Mahatma Gandhi)
In a world often defined by its fast-paced nature, it is so easy to overlook the profound impact of humility and charity. A simple act of kindness has the power to change lives, and we are always over the moon when anyone offers to help our little charity in any way. Over the years, we have worked in partnership with large and small scale businesses as well as other charities. Helping a charity like ROG can make a huge difference to the lives of our children and their families.
We would love to hear from you with your suggestions of how you can help us. Please do contact us to discuss partnership opportunities and ask any questions.
We are excited to hear from you.
Dutton Gregory Solicitors have been avid supporters of the Romsey Opportunity Group for a number of years, and host a hugely popular quiz and curry night every year, which attracts around 150 people from various business across Hampshire and Dorset. The night also includes a raffle which has seen fantastic prizes including a variety of prizes from spa days, hampers and signed Southampton FC merchandise.
This quiz night has become an annual event on the ROG calendar, and has featured in various local and national press.
Contact us if you’d like to attend the next quiz night.
One of the more unusual ways that Dutton Gregory have supported us in raising much appreciated funds is that Jon Whettingsteel, or patron and head of the family team and Paul Sams, the managing partner walked 19 miles from Fareham to our centre in Romsey, Jon wearing a PVC cat suit after losing a bet with Paul. During their 19 mile trek they were joined with a number of colleagues from Dutton Gregory, showing the real sense of teamwork and unity that ROG are proud of.
“The Romsey Opportunity Group gave so much to our family at a really dark time, when we didn’t know who to turn to. One of the best things about the charity is that it does so much more than supporting the children and helping them grow. The team at ROG also recognise the importance of supporting the parents, and giving them a safe space to talk and share their experiences. I’m really grateful to have found ROG, and it’s a privilege to be able to give something back to say thank you, although I don’t feel I’ll ever be able to do enough to show my appreciation and gratitude.”

Romsey Men’s Shed is a local charity and self-help group that brings mainly older men together to work on practical projects that benefit the community and keep active with a range social activities.
It is part of a national movement of Men’s Sheds that aims to combat social isolation and promote healthy lifestyles. RMS has some 70 members in the Romsey area taking on projects such as outdoor kitchens for Cupernham Infants school, redecorating the Romsey children’s library, new planters for Romsey station and restoring the ROG playground.
Allied Office Machines was established in 1994. They are a family-run, independent business which has been dedicated to delivering customer-focused service and expert advice for over 30 years.
They offer a comprehensive range of solutions, including copiers and printers, print management, document automation software, IT services, cybersecurity and IP phones. Allied Office Machines were first introduced to ROG at the charity quiz run by Dutton Gregory. Since ROG are local to them, they were delighted to be able to support the charity by donating a printer/scanner, enabling the staff to produce their newsletters, run the administration of the charity more effectively and to enable Romsey Opportunity Group to keep on helping children and their families.

“I am fortunate enough to work for an organisation that proactively encourages employees to give back to their local communities. We have an incentive whereby we can choose to take a day out of work and offer our time to local initiatives or charities that often need additional support. ROG holds a special place in my family, as my wife, Janine, previously worked for ROG. Having moved to the Romsey area in 2021, we have had the opportunity to meet and speak with many people who either have a direct link to ROG or who are aware of the support function you provide local families, which is so desperately needed and valued across Romsey.
I have had the privilege of spending a day, with colleagues, at the ROG for the last couple of years, where we have supported with mainly maintenance and upkeeping duties, knowing that the people who will most benefit from our time, is the children, and there could not be a better cause. I look forward to coming back and helping in any way possible.”
