Romsey Opportunity Group is a well-established, Hampshire based charity. We are a voluntary based group, providing childcare for children with additional needs and disabilities and we are registered and inspected by Ofsted. We provide a safe and secure space where children with additional needs and disabilities are able to have fun, build relationships, learn and flourish. We provide respite for parents and support for families in challenging times.
We are one of only a few Ofsted registered, Special Needs Centres remaining in Hampshire, providing a stimulating environment with specialist play facilities, where children can play and learn at their own pace with a 1-1 key worker to help them reach their full potential. Children are encouraged to learn, play and socialise with one another.
In addition to working with the children, we provide valuable support and respite for families. Whilst children are playing, parents and/or carers are provided with a space to relax with a hot drink and a biscuit, develop friendships with other parents, and also receive valuable support and information.
The Group is run by a dedicated committee of Trustees and staffed mainly by a team of enthusiastic, hardworking volunteers. All adults are safeguard trained and DBS checked. We meet twice a week on a Tuesday and Thursday morning between 10:00 – 12:00 during term time, in the centre of Romsey.
The Group is completely self-financed and is subsequently fully reliant on support from the local community, grants and fundraising.
