Grayson’s Memorial

The staff, volunteers and trustees of ROG were devastated to learn that one of our precious children, Grayson, was sadly taken to live with the stars before we were ready to say goodbye. His passing left a huge hole in the ROG family, and we chose to mark the special place he had in our hearts with a Memorial.

Friends and family of Romsey Opportunity Group celebrated the life of beautiful Grayson, and we planted an apple tree in his memory. We feel absolutely honoured to have been a part of his special life and he is missed dearly. We are hugely grateful to Hilliers Garden Centre for donating the tree. We feel so lucky to be surrounded by such generous people in Romsey who go the extra mile to help and support others.

Following Grayson’s memorial, we have had a working party of wonderful volunteers who have been digging away despite the cold, to clear the front garden at the Appletree Centre of brambles. It is now looking much tidier and is ready for Grayson’s memorial tree to be planted in the ground, where it can act as a permanent reminder of such a special boy. Lots of seeds and bulbs have been planted in this area so that as the spring arrives, it will be a beautiful wild flower garden and a special place to remember Grayson.

The way you loved your muzzy and music
And how you puckered your lips
Held your hands over your tummy
And all your super smart outfits

How you found your voice
And blew a bubble or two
Enjoyed going on adventures
Proving there was nothing you couldn’t do

Despite all your challenges
And obstacles you faced
You never stopped fighting
With a smile on your face

We can look through the pictures
And remember all the joy
Of seeing you wonderful Grayson
Such a sweet and content little boy
